AE^® Awarded $10,000,000-Plus Design Win by Major, North American Architectural-Glass Manufacturer

FORT COLLINS, Colo., Apr. 26, 2006—Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEIS) today announced that it has earned a design win valued at more than $10,000,000 for Crystal^® power systems from a major architectural-glass manufacturing company in North America. The Crystal systems will be shipped over the next 12 months and deliveries will span six separate factory locations. The Crystal high-power system was selected because it offers power-delivery and arc-management functions not found in any other commercially available power system. Consequently, the Crystal platform offers exceptional process stability, throughput and film quality—benefits-of-choice for this glass manufacturer with its focus on state-of-the-art, large-area coatings for glass windows and doors.

The scale of this win reflects the confidence this leading manufacturer maintains in the Crystal system to run its challenging, dual-magnetron sputtering applications across multiple fabrication sites. It also reflects this customer’s confidence in AE’s committed service and applications support.

The Crystal^® resonant-circuit power system was specifically designed for large-area glass-coating processes, such as architectural, automotive, anti-reflective and mirror applications. The Crystal platform is available in 60, 120 and 180 kW power levels and provides wide-range, low-frequency sinusoidal process power for dual-magnetron sputtering. The system produces stable, low-arc energy and compensates for plasma variations—increasing throughput and film quality while maximizing target utilization.
