Advanced Energy Names Robert Berner Vice President of Flow Products

Fort Collins, Colo., July 15, 2002—Advanced Energy Industries (Nasdaq: AEIS) today announced the appointment of Robert W. Berner, 58, as vice president and general manager of the mass flow control product division. Mr. Berner will be based at the company’s Longmont, Colorado facility, and will lead the division’s strategy and integration efforts working closely with the Hachioji, Japan and Austin, Texas sites.

 

Doug Schatz, Advanced Energy’s chairman and chief executive officer, said, “Bob has been a part of the flow product division since March of this year, and he has been a key contributor to the successful integration of the Aera acquisition. Bob has an extensive and successful track record in the semiconductor industry, and he is the ideal candidate to lead the division’s strategy and operations to expand market leadership through continued technological innovation.”

Mr. Berner’s career began at Motorola Semiconductor, where he held various marketing and operations positions during his fourteen years at the company. Prior to joining Advanced Energy, he was the vice president of new business development at SCP Global Technologies. Earlier, he was general manager, electrochemical products, at Applied Materials where he directed the business and development activities for new ECD products. Mr. Berner spent the previous seven years at Semitool, where he was chief technical officer, vice president of engineering, and general manager of the single wafer division. Mr. Berner is the holder of eighteen patents related to semiconductor wafer processing.
