Advanced Energy and Delta Electronics Sign Licensing Agreement

Fort Collins, Colorado and Taipei, Taiwan (August 20, 2001)-Advanced Energy (Nasdaq: AEIS), an industry-leading provider of critical technology solutions for the manufacture of semiconductors, data storage products, and flat panel displays, today announced that it has entered into an agreement to license its New Power Supply Architecture (NPSA) technology for the high-end computing market to Delta Electronics (TSE: 2308), a leading switching power supply manufacturer and major supplier of video displays & electronic components for computer, telecommunication, networking and other industries.

Joseph Chang, director of sales and marketing for Advanced Energy’s NPSA products, said, “This agreement is an important milestone for our NPSA program. We look forward to working with Delta as a key partner in this effort. The agreement allows Delta to use our technology in their product offerings to the computer, server and workstation markets.”

“The NPSA technology breaks new ground for power management in the high-end computing market,” Bahman Sharifipour, general manager of worldwide engineering management, Delta Electronics, said. “NPSA provides a solution that addresses some of our customers’ increasingly complex requirements for low voltage, high current, fast responding, compact microprocessor power supplies. This agreement will enable us to bring this new and cost-effective technology for high frequency DC-DC power conversion to our worldwide customer base in the high-end computing market.”

Advanced Energy will receive royalties from Delta Electronics based on the sale of products that use its NPSA technology. The licensing agreement is non-exclusive and remains effective through December 2003.
