Advanced Energy Establishes Scholarship

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (August 28, 2001)—Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEIS) has created the Advanced Energy Hollis Caswell Endowed Scholarship in honor of its retired president, Dr. Hollis Caswell. This $50,000 endowment funds a $2,500 annual scholarship, which will be awarded each year to an exemplary engineering student at Colorado State University (CSU). The CSU foundation will manage investment of the endowment, and as funds increase, so will the number of scholarships offered each year. Advanced Energy selects the recipient from among four candidates nominated by the CSU foundation. The first scholarship has been awarded to Troy Butler, a junior in Colorado State University’s Electrical Engineering program.

Caswell was promoted to president of Advanced Energy in 1999, while retaining his positions as chief operations officer and a member of the board of directors, which he held since 1997. He retired on June 30, 2001, after spearheading a marked period of growth and success.

Inspired by the Caswell family’s tradition of higher education support, this scholarship honors Caswell’s significant contribution to the semiconductor industry over the course of his distinguished career. “We are extremely proud of Holly and deeply appreciate the teaching that he brought to AE. It is a privilege to be able to continue his legacy through this scholarship fund,” said Advanced Energy’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Doug Schatz. For scholarship application information, contact the Colorado State University School of Engineering, 203 Weber Hall, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO 80523; (970) 491-1058.
