AE Expands Support Operations in Greater China

Taipei and Shanghai facilities enhance customer service capabilities

TAIPEI, Taiwan, Sept. 10, 2004—Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEIS) announced that it has increased customer support operations in both its Taipei, Taiwan, and Shanghai, China facilities, enhancing service for its growing customer base in Greater China. These facilities have made specialized infrastructure and personnel investments, growing Advanced Energy’s (AE) world-class customer service in the region. Both Taiwan and Mainland China are critical to the future of the global semiconductor and flat panel display industries and these investments strengthen AE’s ability to help customers improve equipment uptime and manage cost-effective operations.

Buck Kim, Advanced Energy’s general manager for the Greater China region, noted, “We have embraced a region-specific program aimed at continually enhancing our customer support and service in Greater China. We have added personnel and other resources that grow our ability to respond with the fastest, highest quality customer support available. This is especially valuable for 300-mm fabs, where maximizing uptime is critical. Our dedication to providing superior customer support becomes a competitive advantage for our customers, allowing us to grow our business in a manner that is profitable for both our customers and ourselves.”

Advanced Energy’s Mainland China and Taiwan facilities offer a comprehensive range of support services, including the highest quality repair work available. All repairs conform to the company’s stringent, global standards and are performed exclusively with factory-specified parts—unlike other, third-party repair facilities in the region. In addition, Mainland China customers that were previously supported by AE’s Taipei facility can now be supported by the Shanghai facility.
